Established in 1919 with 20 students and 3 teachers, Gujarati Kanyashala has become one of the renowned and oldest schools in Chennai. Shri Zaveri Purushothamdas Harilal donated the building to Kanyashala in 27.03.1921. Shri Zaveri Purushothamdas Harilal Kanya Kelavani Mandal is the Trust that owns and manages these schools currently. Kanyashala grew into a High School for girls, achieved great heights, earning numerous accolades over the years. Today, it is a full-fledged Higher Secondary School catering to the educational needs of Gujarati students and other Hindi, Tamil and Telugu speaking students.
With great pride, centenary celebration of the school was in the year 2018-19. An appreciation letter was received from the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Vijay Rupani and the enthusiasm was further elevated by the encouragement letter from our beloved Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. This dream became a reality because of the dedicated efforts of its Trustees, Office Bearers, Committee Members, and Principal of the institutions.

It is really a matter of great pride and pleasure that the Mandal now owns a prestigious building with spacious and furnished classrooms, an inspiring prayer hall, well equipped Laboratories, Audio Visual Room, Smart Classes for Digital Learning, RO plant for pure drinking water, CCTV coverage, Solar Panel for Green Energy and well stacked library with about 15,000 books. The dream of installing a lift in the school has become a reality.
